You Can Draw!

So, I hear this a lot... "Wow, you're so good! I wish I could draw."

Well, you can! You just have to be willing to put in the time, effort, and time....did I say time twice? Yes, lots of time is required. Practice makes perfect, but that's not exactly true with drawing. Yes, practice helps, but you don't want to practice the wrong technics or else practice makes a mess. Looking at other people's art, taking lessons (or watching them on YouTube like I do!), will help you grow as an artist!

No one can draw like you. No one can draw like me. Everyone is unique. I'm not gonna be one of those people who tell you everyone can draw because the truth is not everyone can. Some people struggle with a condition known as dysgraphia, which is similar to dyslexia but with lines. Lines don't make sense to dysgraphics, they don't work, so most dysgraphics can't draw or have a super hard time drawing. But that's okay, dysgraphic people are great at other things, like writing, baking, or sports.

So back to you can draw. I started seriously drawing when I was eleven I am now let's just say older than eleven...Over the years with constant practice and time my art has improved (thankfully). So let's see what practice can do.

Okay here's a picture from just last year that I did.

I have worse ones than this somewhere in a sketchbook I try not to look at...lol...But this one is what I have a picture of. His legs are too thin, his eye is too big, his wings are too small, his back legs are bent but his front legs are straight, which means his back legs would be longer than his front. I could say more, but I'm gonna stop there. I have learned that you have to be your own worst critic because your family, most of the time, is way too nice...lol...

So here is a picture I just finished last week. I even digitalized it.

I can honestly say I've improved, and I've put a lot of time into it. Drawing can be fun and it can be a great way to vent some of that overactive imagination I have. But it can also be beautiful! I love to look at other people's art and be like wow! I just have to remember not to compare it to mine. Because they are not me and I am not them. That doesn't mean you should settle for stick people even though you want to draw realistic. It means you have to find your own style. You have to find you in your art! Because you can draw if you really want to!
