---March's Game---

Hey folks, welcome to March! Sorry this is so late. XD

Anyway, we've done a lot of character/world-focused games in the past few months, so I decided to do something a bit different and focus on actually writing.

Yes, I know. Writing is hard. But hey, it's good to stretch yourself. ;P

The Rules

  1. Pick a playlist and put it on shuffle. You'll need songs with lyrics.

  2. Take the first ten songs and write a short story using at least one line from at least 8 of those songs

  3. Share your story and list the songs you used at the bottom. You don't need to link to them but if you want to, go ahead!

  4. Share your story and tag someone you think might know one of the songs you used.

  5. Have fun and adhere to site rules with both the stories you write and the songs you share!

sunlight

I've been staring the sky for the past half hour, sand gritted under my toes and arms crossed behind my head as I lie on the beach.

The tide is high, and water laps at my toes like a hungry dragon.

That's what Lily would say if she were here, anyway. She was always the fantasy-lover, living in a world of mermaids and phoenixes, a vibrant world she'd invited me into.

Ugh, I hate this part. The soul-scraping memories that surface in my moments of solitude. The wanting, the not-having.

"Keep your head up," she would scold me if she were still here, with that wise, gentle tilt to her eyebrow. "I know it seems hard to believe, but just because it's been a hard year doesn't mean the sun will never come out again."

And I know it's true. I've seen glimpses of sunlight, heard laughter and felt snatches of joy. I've made new friends and found love.

I've lain on beaches at dawn and watched light wash over the world.

But then I can't help but sit and wait till it's gone.

Because no matter how tightly I cling, it slips through my fingers like water, leaving as fast as it comes.

Is it even worth it, Lord? The loving, the hurting?

I close my eyes as the dawning sun soaks my skin, a salty breeze tangling my curls.

And with a quiet sigh, the answer comes.

Always.

I let out a sad chuckle. Jesus knew that better than anyone else. He'd given himself up to death all for the sake of love.

I'm just a human, so I forget.

But I know it's true.

Love is worth it.
