Look Again (A Poem)

This is a poem God gave me during a particularly trying time in my teenage years. A time when I thought God had abandoned me and left me alone. When he laid this poem on my heart I knew it was His way of letting me know He was there and had always been there, I was the one who had walked away.

I hope this poem comforts you and reminds you of the need to Look Again, to never stop looking for God's presence in your life. He never leaves us, but sometimes we make ourselves ignore Him and shun Him to satisfy our want to punish someone for the things that have happened in our lives. Even if you have turned from God, if you look again and ask him to heal you He will! I am proof of this. God loves us, even when we turn from Him, so look again because you are never alone.

When the road seems to never end

When the battle is all but lost

Look again, look again!

And in front of you

You might just see the key to what you seek

When nothing seems to be going your way

When all you have is lost

Look again, look again!

Things don't matter they come and go

Your way is not right but His way is perfect

When you feel as if there is no hope

When you feel as if faith is gone

Look again, look again!

For nothing is ever really gone

Look hard and you might find what you seek

When the answers are so faraway

When you cry out and no one answers

Look again, look again!

For above there is a friend

Who will never ever leave you,

And though he may not answer

Rest assured he is there!

When you think you are the only one

When you feel forsaken

Look again, look again!

Look around and you will see

Many more just like you,

Struggling every day with a burden on their back

When it seems as if there is no way out

When you think you can't go on

When it looks as if the light is gone

Look again, look again!

Look to the one who is greater than you

The God from whom help comes

And you will find what you seek

Look again, look again!

For nothing else will fill your heart or heal your soul

but the love of Jesus Christ!

So, look again, look again!
